2018: A rollercoaster year

Hyderabad: A string of political developments marked the year 2018 that took the nation by surprise on many fronts. From political alignments to change of governments in states, from opposition consolidating its forts to rhetoric reaching the crescendo, from Rafael controversy to grilling Christian Michel, the alleged middleman arrested in the AgustaWestland chopper deal, from instability scaling heights in Jammu & Kashmir to Telugu Desam Party snapping ties with the BJP, from the strange Congress-JDS alliance in Karnataka to the no-confidence motion against the BJP-led government, India is passing through a curious phase that will not only spill over 2019, but may well go beyond that. Indeed, politics as someone characteristically puts, makes for strange bedfellows.
